About Me

DSC06237_Original.jpeg

I am Andi Jane Howard! I grew up in the beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where I enjoy all things outdoors. I am an undergraduate student at the University of Idaho. I am Studying Elementary Education and Special Education. My dual degrees allow me to teach K-12. I would like to begin working at the elementary level in the general classroom and, with time, transition to high school special education.

It is my firm belief that every child deserves access to a free and appropriate education. I believe education is valuable and understand it to be the only force that can break the cycle of poverty. Equity is a given and cultural teaching is a must. UDL frame work and pedagogical practices serve every student. Utilizing these beliefs and practices will allow me to teach to every student.

Technology and Learning

I believe technology to be essential to teaching within a UDL framework.  Technology opens doors for students with learning disabilities, visual impairment, and any other hindrance. It allows for multiple means of engagement, assessment, and action and expression. By providing a large variety of response methods, technology helps student become engages in their learning. It is also essential that in this day in age, students are adequate in technology usage. Experience with technology is necessary in almost every career field. In order to prepare students for the work force, they need to be confident in their technological skills.
